Answers about how startup.krd works, organized by who you are.
After signing in, /onboarding lets you pick Builder, Investor, Mentor, Accelerator, or University/Research. Builder is instant and self-service; the other roles require an application that a staff member or organization reviews before your workspace activates.
Yes. You can be a Builder on one venture and an Investor or Mentor at the same time — each context gets its own workspace and switching between them doesn't affect the others.
You move through a structured setup that creates your venture record, adds you as founder, opens a Data Room, and records the initial stage history — all in one transaction, so you can never end up with a half-created venture.
New ventures start as drafts. A venture only appears on /ventures and in search once you publish it and set its visibility to public — this keeps unfinished passports out of public view.
Your investment mandate (sectors, stages, ticket size, geography) is matched against ventures using explicit, explainable rules — every match shows the reasons behind it and what's missing, never an opaque score.
No. Saving or expressing interest in a venture is the first step of a deal-flow pipeline you control — see the Capital Disclaimer for exactly what interest, introductions, and matching do and don't mean.
Open the opportunity from /opportunities and apply from your Builder workspace. The organization running the program reviews applications through their own workspace — screening, evaluation, and cohort decisions all happen there.
Respond directly to a venture's stated Need with a contribution offer, or make yourself discoverable from the Mentor workspace. Contributions are tracked through their full lifecycle — offered, accepted, delivered — not just promised.
An organization account is created when your role application is approved. Platform staff can then issue a partner- or platform-verified status once your organization's identity and standing in the ecosystem are confirmed.
Self-reported means the owner stated it themselves. Partner verified means a standing organization (accelerator, university, institutional partner) attested to it. Platform verified means startup.krd staff independently confirmed it. See /trust/verification for the full policy.
No — it creates a timestamped, tamper-evident record of what you shared and when, which can support a provenance dispute. It is not a patent or copyright filing. See /trust/idea-protection, and talk to IP counsel if your venture depends on formal protection.
Only venture members and anyone you've explicitly approved through an access grant. Access is enforced at the database level, not just hidden in the interface, and every grant and revocation is recorded.
Go to /account/privacy once signed in. You can download a full export of your account's data immediately, or submit a deletion request — shared venture or organization ownership needs to be transferred or left first.
